Hulufy ("Hulufy", "we", "us") respects your right to control your data. This page explains how to request that your Hulufy account and associated data be deleted, and what that process involves.
1. How to request account deletion
You can submit a deletion request in either of the following ways:
- In the app: Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account and follow the on-screen steps. This is the fastest method.
- By email: Send a message to privacy@hulufy.com from the email address linked to your account. Use the subject line "Account Deletion Request" and include your registered email address or business name so we can locate your account.
We will acknowledge your request within 3 business days and complete the deletion within 30 days.
2. What is deleted
When your account is deleted we permanently remove the following personal and business data:
- Your profile: name, email address, and phone number.
- Business registration details: business name, TIN, and branch information you entered.
- Staff and team-member records associated with your account.
- Device and usage data linked to your account (IP history, session logs).
- Any active subscription or plan association.
3. What is retained — and why
Some data cannot be immediately erased because of legal or operational requirements:
- Transaction and financial records (sales, invoices, payment-verification results) are retained for up to 7 years after account deletion to comply with Ethiopian commercial and tax law. After that period they are permanently deleted or anonymized.
- Fraud or abuse records may be retained for up to 3 years to protect the integrity of the service.
- Anonymized, aggregated data (e.g., aggregate sales statistics with no personally identifiable information) may be retained indefinitely for product analytics.
Retained records are isolated and used only for the purposes stated above. They are not used for marketing or shared with third parties beyond what was disclosed at the time of collection.
4. Effect on shared business data
If you are the owner of a Hulufy business account and other staff members operate under it, you must transfer ownership or remove staff before requesting deletion. We will contact you to confirm this step before proceeding. If no transfer is possible the entire business account will be deleted, subject to the retention rules in section 3.
If you are a staff member (cashier, manager, etc.) linked to a business, only your personal profile credentials are deleted. Business-level transaction records continue to exist under the business owner's account.
